IPCA’s 2008 Advocacy and Lobbying Wrap-Up
The Idaho Primary Care Association had another successful Legislative session this year. The primary goal of the 2008 session was to secure a significant one-time appropriation that could be added to the Community Health Center Grant Program framework that was passed last year (Idaho Statute 39, Chapter 32). Thanks to the work of many individuals, the IPCA succeeded in securing a one-time one million dollar appropriation that Idaho Community Health Centers will be able to use to address critical infrastructure needs.
The success of this two year campaign highlights the critical roles that educating, advocating and actively influencing decision makers statewide has, and will continue to have, in the IPCA’s success.
It is also apparent that as the political stakes grow bigger the IPCA will need a larger and even more committed Community Health Center Grassroots Advocacy Network to continue growing the political presence of Community Health Centers. If you would like to get involved in the continued legislative success of the IPCA and your Community Health Center please consider joining the VoterVoice Advocacy network and committing to doing these action items as individuals and as Community Health Center Boards.
